ONE Kick-ass Celebration!!
Georgia & Phil
We think this was one kick-ass celebration, and you'll think so too! There's llama's (alpaca's), denim jackets, so much scotch & champagne, sparklers and fireworks – we hope this one blows your socks off like it did for us, because THIS wedding was seriously AMAZE !!! Captured by the incredible Mitch Pohl Photography at Gippsland's Tom's Cap Vineyard (AND yes thats totally the vineyard Jarrod Woodgate from the own bachelorette owns).
Tell us about your proposal! When, where, how?
December 2016, our 2 families went on a vaycay to Merimbula (Sapphire Coast). Phil planned a day of activities for us to do alone one Friday. It started with a sunrise boat ride, with a picnic breakfast, then we went to a wildlife reserve (I got a selfie with a kangaroo!) and then we went down to the amazing pier. Phil had prepared the most wonderful poem and got down on one knee. There is a beautiful restaurant there and the staff saw the proposal happening so rushed down with 2 glasses of bubbles for us! Even though I did know it was coming (I am actually Nancy Drew and nothing gets passed me) it still felt like an out of body experience.
The dress, did you know at first site or did you try on a few?
I designated a weekend to finding my dress, I wanted something that was timeless and appropriate for the venue and low key vibe. I also purchased a second outfit from ASOS which was more fun, more me and shiny.
Did you write your own vows?
We worked closely with our RAAF Chaplain, who helped us select and tweak traditional vows for our ceremony.
Where did your style inspiration come from?
As soon as we saw the venue, as recommended by my Poppy. We knew that we wouldn’t need to do much. We just wanted it to feel like us and not to overdone. So I suppose our inspiration was just our own style but a lil more formal.
What piece of advice would you give to another couple planning their wedding?
It is about YOU! Don’t get caught up in what other people want or will think. Embrace your own vibe and focus on what is actually important to you. Plan you money wisely and remember its only the start of this chapter, there are many more adventure you will go one together!
What was the best part of the day for you?
Because we kept it small and had a flexible plan, we actually got to be quests at the wedding. We played the games, chatted to everyone and were completely stress free. I also really loved the little pockets of alone time with Phil, like when we had some pics taken and the dance. Notable mentions are also, the Alpacas (so cute and evil at the same time) the food was epic and of course the fireworks!!
Any surprises on the big day?
The fireworks were a surprise to our guests. We tricked them into thinking it was a sparkler exit, once the last one went out an epic 10 mixture firework display begun!
Did you have a stand out vendor?
They were all so amazing!! Mitch, The Head Boutique and Tom’s Cap..Just wow! … Oh and Lili & Pearl what a makeup artist! (Spoiler alert, thats me!)
